About Fern to Peak
Hi! I'm Taylor. I'm a mother, wife, cardiac nurse, outdoor enthusiast, dog mom, cat mom, and woodworker! I have never considered myself a creative person, even though I'm a lefty. I had always been told that left-handed people are more creative, but it's taken until now for me to flex that muscle. Before 2020, I cannot confidently say that I'd even touched a power tool outside of my grade 7 woodworking class. But in the winter of 2020, I was a new mom dealing with PPD and Covid lockdown. I saw a mountain mosaic on Etsy one day, and thought "I should try to make this." I did, and it took me a good 3 months to complete it. I was hooked. Ever since then, I've tried a ton of new tools, and made many different items of woodwork and wood art depending on what my mood inspires me to attempt! What I have found that I enjoy creating the most are mosaics (including mountain mosaics) and scroll saw signs. But I am always interested in trying new things and am more or less self-taught by following other (predominantly) female makers on social media. It's pretty satisfying to look at a pile of scrap wood and make something out of nothing.
